The Patriot Cause

American patriots take an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. The Communist Manifesto says that communism destroys all religion and all morality. We make the mistake of negotiating with these socialists just on the basis of economics when in reality it is about metaphysics and ontology (the branch of metaphysics dealing with the nature of being) - it is about attacking and destroying your values, your culture. your ideas and the foundations of your society.

Bearing the authority entrusted to us by our Founding Fathers and recognizing that Liberty is endowed by our Creator and protected by our Constitution we pledge to; protect ourselves, each other, our posterity, our states and our country by defending our Constitution as a contract, not a living document, from all abuses of power, violations and tyrannical acts, from within or from without our nation and our government.

General Welfare Clause
Friday Jul 09, 2021
Friday Jul 09, 2021
The first clause of Article I, Section 8, reads, "The Congress shall have Power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States." This clause, called the General Welfare Clause or the Spending Power Clause, does not grant Congress the power to legislate for the general welfare of the country; that is a power reserved to the states through the Tenth Amendment. Rather, it merely allows Congress to spend federal money for the general welfare. The principle underlying this distinction—the limitation of federal power—eventually inspired the only important disagreement over the meaning of the clause.
The Tenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, a part of the Bill of Rights, was ratified on December 15, 1791. It expresses the principle of federalism, also known as states' rights, by stating that the federal government has only those powers delegated to it by the Constitution, and that all other powers not forbidden to the states by the Constitution are reserved to each state.

[The Congress shall have Power] To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States

Article I, Section 8, Clause 1 of the Constitution, the “general Welfare clause,” is often referred to as the “Taxing and Spending Clause” because of its expansive use today. Many people claim it gives the feds the authority to do anything imaginable as long as it “promotes the general welfare” – however one might define it. But this creates a dilemma. Either James Madison and other supporters of the Constitution were lying when they said the powers of the federal government would be “few and defined,” or people have misconstrued the legal meaning of this clause. The existence of enumerated powers resolves this dilemma.

A Time for Choosing

The greatest documents in American history never lose their ability to astonish. They deserve, and repay, careful study, and inevitably have contemporary resonances no matter how long ago they were written or uttered.
There’s no doubt that Ronald Reagan’s “A Time for Choosing” belongs in the top ranks of American speeches. It is among the most significant political speeches ever given by a non- officeholder and non-presidential candidate. It heralded the beginning of the political career of a man who would go on to be a successful two-term president, and it remains an extraordinarily powerful and cogent expression of a deeply held worldview.
NOTE: This speech was in 1964, not 1967 as in mentioned on the podcast.

John Adams' greatest political rival as well as a longtime friend and compatriot was Thomas Jefferson. John Adams and Thomas Jefferson met at the First Continental Congress in Philadelphia in 1775. Immediately, a friendship was struck that continued until death, only interrupted by extreme political differences and competition. In total, the men wrote 380 letters to each other over five decades; it was only the after the 1800 election, pitting John Adams vs Thomas Jefferson that their writing and friendship waned.

Real Power is in Local Government
Friday Jul 02, 2021
Friday Jul 02, 2021
We “buy local” to support small businesses. We “eat local” to support family farms. Why? Because we have the power to make change more effectively by starting local. When we support small businesses and family farms in our community we are helping our city or town grow economically. We are keeping people employed. We are keeping businesses in our area. With one choice at a time, we are improving our surroundings. We can also make a huge difference in our local community by exercising our rights as American citizens and participating in the democratic process. Now is the ideal time to start thinking about how to get involved in local government.

Self Governance
Thursday Jul 01, 2021
Thursday Jul 01, 2021
Self-government is often mistaken for its legal, procedural, or institutional manifestations, such as voting, representation, majority rule, and the freedoms of speech, association, and press. These are necessary but insufficient conditions of self-government. Self-government is, at root, a culture of public responsibility among the citizenry; that is, a widely accepted norm that citizens can and should take a role in public decision-making. People must believe that they have the right, duty, and ability to govern themselves. If they stop believing these things, self-government is effectively dead even if the rituals are still observed.
